I chose the cartoon Health Insurance Rate Increases by Wolverton. I chose this cartoon since the Healthcare debate has been such a big issue lately. This cartoon was posted on 11/22/2009 by Cagle Cartoons. This cartoon is talking about while the Senate is debating the Healthcare Reform, big health insurance companies are raising the insurance premium prices. The public is being forced to buy these healthcares for outrageous premium prices, because if they don't and something happens to them, they won't be able to afford their hospital bills.
I agree with this cartoon's message because we really need to do something about the healthcare reform. People should not have to spend ridiculous amounts of money to be covered, and there shouldn't be anyone who isn't covered. If someone gets sick or gets in an accident, it is immoral to not give them treatment because they can't afford the expensive bills.

I think this cartoon really portrays the public's side of how they are being affected by big insurance compaines. I think the debate over the health insurance issue is huge because it is such a huge change for America and the fear for too much government control is fueling the fire of the debate.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Steph. Something needs to be done about the health insurance because peoples lives are at stake and we cannot just ignore these things. But the answer isnt that easy. I agree with this cartoon and i like steph's choice. I think the health care reform bill may sort out some of these problems, but the whole things is costly anyways.
